Protecting our customer's financial privacy continues to be a priority for Shoreline Bank. We are proud of how well we safeguard your identity and your information. The privacy issue continues to grow in importance throughout the country so we urge you to become aware of the risks and take precautions. Some tips include:
– Protecting your PIN and online passwords is very important. You should never give anyone your PIN or online passwords. No one at the bank will ever request this information to assist you. If you feel that your PIN or online passwords have been compromised, contact your bank immediately to have them changed.
– "Spam" email has become an everyday nuisance that we all deal with. it is always advised to delete these emails, never respond to them. Some "spam" emails offer to take you off their list if you respond back to them. Never reply- a reply tells spammers that they have an active email account and your inbox will be flooded with even more spam emails. It is always good general practice to simply delete the email if you don't know or cannot verify who sent it to you.
– Knowing how fast your computer should respond when opening files on the internet could be an easy way to detect whether you have been infected by spyware. If your computer is running much slower than usual you may be infected. It is recommended that you download a credible spyware program like Microsoft's free "Windows Defender." Constantly running an anti-spyware program is a good way to ensure your computer won't get infected.
